Douces Amères refers to the unsettling sensation that finds its way under the skin, mixing pleasure and discomfort. The 9 FLINTA artists build tales throughout the exhibition, expressing their experiences of violence and grief. Marks left on their skins raise matters of identity and consent that their bodies encounter inside the familial, religious, public, or digital institutions. They digest their past and regurgitate it in strange shapes, hybrid entities of their emotions. These fantastic creatures tell stories of pain and loss, coating them with the sweetness of tales.
